UPDATE - Corona Virus/Covid-19

During the current Covid-19 situation it is essential now more than ever, to look after our mental health and for this reason I have moved my practice online, to allow me to continue working and helping clients while abiding by the government guidelines.

I am offering sessions at discounted rates on the following platforms: Skype, Facetime, Zoom, WhatsApp, House Party and Google Meet, which are all easily downloadable free apps.

I have personally been working with clients affected by crisis situations for many years and am now using this experience to help my clients with.

Mental Health Awareness during Covid-19

The current Covid-19 situation has enforced many changes upon us, creating for many, added stresses and challenging our normal methods for coping with modern day life.

I have been writing a blog to try to help understand the impact upon all our mental health, how we can best cope and offer some tips.

It is important to look after your mental health during these demanding times, if you feel you could benefit and need confidential advice and support book an online session.

5 POINT PLAN TO HELP YOUR WELLBEING.

KEEP…A ROUTINE

Make a list each evening for the next day, set an alarm to get up, fix a time to do some daily exercise, what time to eat and most importantly what time to go to sleep.

KEEP…BUSY

Take advantage of the extra available time to do some of those household chores that keep getting putting off, cleaning kitchen shelves, some gardening? But make sure its something that you can comfortably do, not something beyond your abilities and a potential stress inducer. You can also reward yourself after a good job is completed.

KEEP…TALKING

Make sure you speak to likeminded people, friends and family, using phone or possibly using video links using the various apps available. Keep in touch with that friend that makes you laugh the most.

KEEP…LEARNING

Engage your creative side, learn an instrument, a new language, grab a set of pencils and sketch, cook something a little more testing than normal. The amount of available content online is inexhaustive, find a fun project and get started.

KEEP…HEALTHY

Food and nutrition will help enormously with your mood, cutting back on the snacks, especially sugars and white grains and flours that release energy in a manner that may contribute to mood swings. Stick to vegetables, fruit seeds, nuts and fish, all of which are good for emotional balance.

"It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent that survives.  It is the one that is the most adaptable to change."

- Charles Darwin

Smiling Woman

"I started seeing Laura after a challenging time in my life following the breakdown of my marriage and my father dying unexpectedly. I was instantly put at ease by Laura's frank and open style.  I felt able to share the most personal and difficult things with her in a safe environment with no judgment and only support.  I truly feel that without Laura, I would not have rebuilt myself into the strong and happy woman I am today, such a stark comparison to the person that sat in front of her on our first meeting.  I have learnt so much from Laura about myself and the relationships in my life.  I now feel that I am equipped to deal with any challenges that may lie ahead".

Professional Divorcee, 40’s.

I started worrking with Laura shortly after a spell in Rehab. I was a lifelong drug addict and alcoholic and despaired of ever changing. I'd had counsellors in the past who did not fully understand drugs  and booze as well as Laura does. I felt comfortable to discuss my alcoholic and addict career with her and found myself willing to share all my 'shameful' experiences with her and started to see that I could achieve things in life if I could suspend my poisonous self-hatred and the negative beliefs and judgements about myself. I have been 100% abstinent for over a year now - this is a fucking miracle in itself but more fundementally important is the much more loving and understanding relationship that I have with myself, it is the lack of this that led directly to all my addictive behaviours. I can only thank Laura for patiently helping me to see this. I feel free for the first time in my adult life and this is the best gift that I ever gave myself.

2 years ago if anyone had told me that I'd already be clean and sober for 14 months and that I simply wouldn't recognise the world and my own inner dialogue I would have laughed them out of court.

Laura helped me discover a much better version of myself and I am truly grateful for her wisdom and her willingness to extend herself in order to help me recognize this life changing discovery, I can only recommend her to anyone who is struggling with addictions or who wants to become the version of themselves that they deserve.
